Colour laser printers are something that you would think to find in the offices of a large multi-national company but the Samsung CLP-300 is trying to change all that. It’s designed for the small business and home user, for those who are feed up with the high running costs of an inkjet printer. It certainly affordable as it cost about the same as what you would pay for a good quality all-in-one inkjet printer and the Samsung CLP-300 toner cartridges are equally affordable. The Samsung toner cartridges cost less than the average printer cartridges for a colour laser printer but they also print less yet still maintain a good cost per page ratio of 1.8p black and 8.7p colour. Printing speed is also good, black printing have a 16ppm speed rating while colour is a little less impressive at 4ppm this is due to the fact that the CLP-300 uses a single drum unit for all four colours to keep costs down. Printing quality seems to follow the same pattern, black printing is excellent text documents are clear and sharp while colour is lacking in performance, printing graphics is fine but photos are definitely not the CLP-300 forte. Overall The CLP-300 is a good printer that does what it says on the tin, there are no nasty surprises and that makes it god value for money.
